As part of its annual Children’s Day celebration, Edike Africa concluded the second edition of its nationwide video competition tagged “AI, My Learning Buddy” video competition with school visits to award the top three winners. The 2025 edition received hundreds of entries from students across Nigeria, highlighting young voices engaging with the future of learning through artificial intelligence.
Winners were celebrated during outreach visits to Glorified Unique School in Oluyole, Ibadan; Topkem School in Ikorodu; and Ridgeway School in Ajao Estate, Lagos. Each recipient was presented with a cash prize and branded school supply package by Edike’s outreach team between June 16 and 20, 2025.
The digital campaign, which ran from May 2 to 25, required children aged 5 to 12 to submit short videos explaining how AI tools help them grow and learn. According to Edike Africa, the initiative was designed to ignite creativity, spark awareness around AI, and reinforce the brand’s mission of supporting accessible education.
“We wanted this year’s Children’s Day to go beyond celebration—to give children a voice and a platform to think about the future of learning,” said Babajide Olusesi, Chief Operating Officer at Edike Africa. “We were truly impressed by the thoughtfulness the children demonstrated. It’s a clear sign that Nigerian children are not only eager to learn but are also thinking critically about the future.”
The winners—Oluwajuwonla Alaetan (1st place), Karis Obioha (2nd place), and Mofifoluwa Salau (3rd place)—were announced on May 27, 2025, via Edike’s social media platforms. Their prizes included ₦150,000, ₦100,000, and ₦50,000 respectively, along with educational kits.
Parents of the winners expressed gratitude for the initiative. Mrs. Olubunmi Alaetan, mother of the first-place winner, applauded Edike for inspiring children through technology and encouraged other parents to help their kids embrace AI. Miss Bolanle Sulaimon, proprietress of Topkem Schools, noted: “Beyond the competition itself, Edike’s commitment to supporting parents with school fee payments shows they genuinely care about ensuring every African child stays in school.”
During the school visits, Edike’s team engaged directly with students and school administrators, championing the importance of accessible education for all. With the new academic session fast approaching, many school heads acknowledged the pressing need for reliable school fees support and expressed a strong willingness to partner with Edike. These conversations reinforced the critical role Edike plays in keeping children in school and easing the financial burden on families across Nigeria.
